Coapur™ 980 W is a water-soluble, non-ionic polyurethane thickener with the following typical characteristics and properties:
Nature: Water soluble non-ionic polyurethane
Appearance: Viscous whitish liquid
Solid Content: 27%
Active Content: 17.5%
pH: 7
Brookfield viscosity: 3000 mPa.s
Specific gravity: 1.03
Solvent: Water
Description:
Coapur™ 980 W offers a unique pseudoplastic rheology profile, excelling at medium shear rates while also contributing significantly at high shear rates. It builds low shear viscosity to a reasonably high level to optimize leveling and sag resistance. This polyurethane thickener is solvent, Alkyl Phenol Ethoxylates (APEO), tin, and heavy metal-free, making it suitable for low emission water-based paints that require attractive in-can appearance, tool load, outstanding coating properties, and color acceptance. It's easy to use and suitable for automatic dosing systems due to its low viscosity. Coapur™ 980 W is designed to be used alone or ideally in combination with high shear viscosity builders, such as Coapur™ 2025, if specific properties like brush drag, film build, or spatter resistance need to be increased.
Recommended Addition Level:
- As sole thickener in matt dispersion paints: 0.1% to 1%.
- Combined with a high and/or medium shear effective thickener in all kinds of formulations: 0.05% to 0.8%.
Standard Packaging:
Available in 1000L IBC and 220L drum. Other packaging options may be available upon request.
Handling & Storage:
Store between 5°C and 40°C, protected from weathering and direct sunlight exposure. Reseal packaging immediately after use. Coapur™ 980 W should be used at temperatures above 20°C for easy pumpability. Use within 12 months under these conditions.
