Description:
CRAYVALLAC® LA-150 is composed of a modified urea dissolved in DMSO. Upon addition to the final system, the DMSO is diluted, and the modified urea crystallizes out as very fine fibers, forming a three-dimensional interacting network. This network contributes to the system's shear-thinning rheology and time-dependent viscosity recovery. The rheology modifier offers excellent control of sedimentation combined with ease of application. After application, under low shear conditions, the system's viscosity undergoes time-dependent recovery as the network re-establishes itself, providing good leveling, known as thixotropy.
Recommended Addition Level:
0.2-2.0% under low shear dispersion, Post-addition.

Handling & Storage:
Store in the original containers in a dry place at temperatures between 20°C (68°F) and 30°C (86°F). Use corrosion-resistant storage tanks and piping. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or frost. Containers must be tightly closed after use to exclude moisture to prevent premature crystallization of the modified urea. Use within 12 months from production under these conditions.
Processing Instructions:
CRAYVALLAC® LA-150 should be added to the coating as a slow stream under low to medium shear conditions for efficient dispersion. Stirring is required to ensure homogeneity; elevated temperatures are not necessary for activation. Compatibility testing is essential, especially for very polar and non-polar systems, to avoid poor anti-settle and sag resistance performance or crystal clumping. The product contains chloride ions, so additional testing is recommended if stored in metal containers or used in coatings in direct contact with metal substrates to assess corrosion potential.

Description:
CRAYVALLAC® ANTISETTLE CVP consists of micronized particles that are converted during formulation into an interacting network of fiber-like particles. This network creates the final coating's shear-thinning rheology, which exhibits very high viscosity under low shear rates associated with sedimentation and low viscosity under the higher shear rates of application. This characteristic provides excellent control of sedimentation while facilitating ease of application. Besides coatings, it has also found successful use in various other applications.
Recommended Addition Level:
0.2-1.5% under heat and shear.

Its use ensures smooth structure and optimized ease of coat with no spatter. Coapur™ XS 71 facilitates excellent color development with pigment pastes, even in the presence of problematic binders. It limits viscosity drop after pigment paste addition, eliminates pigment flooding and floating during storage, and enables excellent results based on rub-out tests.
Recommended Addition Level:
As the sole thickener in matte dispersion paints: 0.1% to 1%, combined with a high and/or medium shear effective thickener in all kinds of formulations: 0.05% to 0.8%, both based on active content.

Alkyd emulsions generally exhibit stronger reactivity, resulting in higher viscosities, particularly at low shear rates, and poorer storage stability. Coapur™ XS 22 addresses these requirements by providing specific thickening properties for alkyd emulsion systems.
Recommended Addition Level:
Half or a third of the total amount should be incorporated before adding pigments and fillers, with the rest added at the end of formulation. The typical dosage ranges from 0.5% to 2% (active on total formulation weight), depending on the desired high shear viscosity.
