Desmodur® E XP 2723 is an aromatic polyisocyanate prepolymer based on diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI). Here's a breakdown of its properties and applications:
Characterization: It serves as a binder for the formulation of moisture-curing, one-component coatings and adhesives. Additionally, it can act as a hardener for hydroxyl-bearing co-reactants.
Form Supplied: Desmodur® E XP 2723 is supplied as a solvent-free liquid.
Specification:
- NCO content: Approximately 15.4%
- Viscosity (at 25°C): Approximately 1,500 mPa·s
Solubility/Thinnability: It exhibits good compatibility with solvents such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, 1-methoxypropylacetate-2, xylene, and Solvesso® 100. However, solutions formed should be tested for storage stability, and only PU grade solvents should be used.
Properties/Applications: Desmodur® E XP 2723 finds application in the formulation of moisture-curing one-component systems. These systems, when thinned with a suitable solvent, can be used as primers and sealers for porous substrates, providing protection against moisture, oil, fuel, and other chemicals. It's also suitable for use as a binder in synthetic resin mortars and in combination with suitable polyols to yield tough, flexible, wear-resistant coatings and sealers. Moreover, it can be used in the formulation of solvent-free moisture-curing one-component adhesives or in combination with Baycoll® to formulate two-component adhesives for bonding wood, metal, plastic, and other materials.
Storage: It should be stored in its original sealed Covestro container at room temperature (approximately 23°C), protected from moisture, heat, and foreign material.
This product is labeled as a Trial Product, indicating limited experience with its behavior during processing or use. Testing is recommended to determine its suitability for specific applications. Additionally, it's important to note that Covestro does not make any representations regarding the product after six months from the day of shipment.
