WorléeKyd C 632 M is a specially modified short oil alkyd resin based on selected fatty acids. It is designed for the manufacture of PVC resistant nitrocellulose (NC) combination lacquers and paints. Here are its technical specifications:
WorléeKyd C 632 M is typically well compatible with short oil alkyd resins and amino resins, but due to the variability of products on the market, trials are recommended before use. It is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, glycol ethers, and glycol ether esters, but insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons and alcohols. However, these can be used in combination with "real" solvents.
In application, WorléeKyd C 632 M is used in combination with nitrocellulose for the manufacture of PVC resistant NC lacquers and paints. An addition of urea resin and acid catalyst is not necessary. The ratio of alkyd resin to nitrocellulose (on solids) can vary between 1.5:1 and 2:1 depending on the requirements.
For plastifying the nitrocellulose, it is recommended to add approximately 35% plasticizer calculated on dry nitrocellulose, with a ratio of gelling to not gelling plasticizer of approximately 2:1.
The delivery form in butyl acetate enables the manufacture of aromatic-free NC lacquers and paints.
