WorléeKyd C 628 is a short oil, low viscous, non-drying alkyd resin based on special fatty acids. It's primarily used for yellowing resistant stoving enamels, isocyanate-cured lacquers and paints, and in combination with nitrocellulose for physical drying lacquers and enamels. Here are its technical details:
WorléeKyd C 628 is compatible with short oil alkyds and amino resins. Compatibility tests are recommended due to the large number of different types of resins. It's also compatible with nitrocellulose and partially compatible with cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB). With specific types of Desmodur from Bayer, it is compatible, but incompatible with others.
This resin is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, and glycol ethers, but insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons and lower alcohols.
Application-wise, WorléeKyd C 628 is ideal for high-quality stoving systems. When combined with reactive unplasticized urea resins or melamine resins, it achieves the best all-round properties. Its relatively low viscosity makes it suitable for manufacturing medium solid stoving systems, and combinations with amino resins offer good viscosity stability, suitable for dipping systems.
Stoving conditions typically range from 30 minutes at 120°C to 10 minutes at 160°C, resulting in a cured paint film with high gloss and excellent yellowing resistance up to 200°C.
It's also used in isocyanate-cured wood coatings and nitrocellulose combination lacquers, offering high film build, UV resistance, and excellent gloss. In combination with nitrocellulose, it can be used for enamels that can be polished to improve gloss.
