WorléeKyd BS 830 (60% In Dearomatized HC 160-200) is an air-drying silicone-modified alkyd resin primarily used for the manufacture of lasting protection coatings for steel constructions. High gloss paints based on this resin offer good drying and resistance properties, along with excellent gloss retention. Here are its technical specifications:

• Oil content: Approximately 45%
• Content of phthalic anhydride: Approximately 17%
• Silicone content: 30%
• Non-volatile content, 1h/125 °C: 60% ± 1
• Colour (Gardner), 50% in dearomat. HC 160 - 200: Maximum 10
• Acid value, on solids: Maximum 15
• Flow time, 20 °C, 50% in dearomat. HC 160 - 200: 120 - 150 seconds
• Delivery form: 60% in dearomat. HC 160 - 200

WorléeKyd BS 830 is compatible with nearly all long oil alkyds, phenolic and maleic modified hard resins. It is partially compatible with some medium-length alkyd resins. It is well soluble in all solvents except for low alcohols.

This resin is recommended as the sole binder or in combination with conventional long and medium oil alkyd resins for the manufacture of high-quality industrial and decorative paints, especially for applications requiring lasting protection, such as steel constructions.

For drying, the following addition of driers is recommended:

• Cobalt (Co): 0.04 - 0.07%
• Calcium (Ca): 0.10 - 0.30% (metal calculated on solid alkyd resin)
