Silikophen P 50/X

SILIKOPHEN® P50/X is a non-reactive methylphenyl silicone resin produced by Evonik Operations GmbH. This product is designed for use in high-temperature and protective coatings, offering excellent air-drying properties and compatibility with organic resins, making it easy to formulate for various applications.

Technical Data:

• Appearance: Clear to hazy colored liquid (product properties are not affected by haziness)
• Delivery Form: Liquid
• Non-volatile Content: Approximately 50%
• Solvent: Isobutanol / xylene (1:19)
• Viscosity at 25 °C: Approximately 30 mPas

Solubility:

• Soluble: Xylene, Dowanol MPA, Butyl acetate, Cyclohexanone
• Partly Soluble: Butanol
• Not Soluble: Water

Processing Instructions:

• Use with metallic pigments and special formulations to achieve continuous heat resistance up to 650 °C.
• Recommend a mixture of xylene with polar solvents such as isobutanol or butyl acetate (e.g., isobutanol/xylene = 1:10).
• Surface pre-treatment: Degreasing and shot-blasting are recommended.
• Formulated coatings exhibit corrosion protection after air-drying.
• Full protection develops when the objects are exposed to the operating conditions.
• Handling and transport are possible without intermediate baking.

Curing Conditions:

• 250 °C / 30 min.

Handling & Storage:

• When stored in original unopened packaging, the product has a shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture.
• Contact with tin (e.g., metal containers) will shorten storage stability.
• Keep dry, as contact with moisture causes gelation.
