Description:
Rheotech™ 1800 is an associative thickener that provides a Newtonian rheology profile. It exhibits a unique visco-elastic balance, transitioning smoothly towards flow with increased shear. It imparts a liquid to creamy appearance to paints while offering outstanding flowability. This product meets advanced requirements such as efficiency, optimized rheology profile, ease of use, pigment compatibility, versatility, and water resistance. It is particularly advantageous when surfactants and/or electrolytes are present or incorporated into the formulation. Rheotech™ 1800 also helps limit viscosity drop during tinting and stabilizes colored formulations during storage.
Recommended Addition Level:
Rheotech™ 1800 can be used alone or in combination in medium to low PVC formulations (e.g., satin, semi-gloss, and gloss paints) at concentrations between 0.2% and 1.5% (dry on total formulation weight, typically).

Handling & Storage:
Protect from frost and weathering, store between 5°C and 40°C, and shield from direct sun exposure. Once opened, reseal the packaging immediately after use. As it's a film-forming product, the surface may dry on contact with air. Slight sedimentation at the bottom of drums or totes is normal and does not impact performance, as long as the solids content meets specifications. If necessary, filter the product before use. Use within 6 months from delivery under these conditions.
Processing Instructions:
Add Rheotech™ 1800 under stirring at the end of formulation, after incorporating the binder. The thickening effect occurs when the pH of the formulation is adjusted to 8.5 to 9 using an alkali solution (sodium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide, amines).
