Harcryl® 1228 is a unique, functional acrylic monomer composed of mono and di-phosphate esters of 2-Hydroxyethylmethacrylate. Here's an overview:
Composition: It consists of both mono and di-phosphate esters, allowing easy incorporation into various polymer systems. The polarity of Harcryl® 1228 enables its application in hydrophilic formulations as well.
Inhibition: Inhibited with 400ppm of added hydroquinone.
Functionality: The phosphate functional group promotes adhesion to various surfaces, reducing the need for pretreatments. It improves corrosion resistance, thus reducing the necessity for additional inhibitors. The acrylic backbone facilitates easy incorporation into many coating systems.
Benefits:
Usage: Harcryl® 1228 should not be used as a straight additive. As a monomer, it should be fed separately or in the monomer pre-mix. It has a shelf life of 1 year from the manufacturing date.
Handling & Storage: Should be stored out of sunlight in stainless steel, lined, or plastic vessels. Listed as a DOT corrosive.
