Harcryl® 1228 UV is a specialized acrylic monomer designed for UV curable coatings. Here's a breakdown of its features and properties:
Composition: It consists of mono and di-phosphate esters of 2-Hydroxyethylmethacrylate. The ratio of mono-alkyl to di-alkyl phosphate allows for easy incorporation into various polymer systems. Its polarity enables application in hydrophilic formulations.
Inhibition: Inhibited with 100ppm of added MeHQ.
Functionality: The phosphate functional group promotes adhesion to surfaces, reducing the need for pretreatments. This enhances adhesion, saves time, and reduces coating layers. It also improves corrosion resistance, reducing the need for additional inhibitors. The acrylic backbone facilitates easy incorporation into UV and radiation curable coatings.
Benefits:
Usage: Should not be used as a straight additive. As a monomer, it should be fed separately or in the monomer pre-mix. It has a shelf life of 1 year from the manufacturing date.
Handling & Storage: Should be stored out of sunlight in stainless steel, lined, or plastic vessels. Listed as a DOT corrosive.
