DESMODUR® LS 2424

Desmodur® LS 2424 is a monomeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate with a high 2,4'-isomer content. It's primarily used for formulating prepolymers in one- and two-component polyurethane coatings and adhesives. Unlike the solid Desmodur® 44 M and Desmodur® 44 MC, Desmodur® LS 2424 is a liquid at temperatures above 20°C, simplifying storage and handling.

Key points about Desmodur® LS 2424 include:

• Isomer Content: Contains approximately 55.0 ± 5.0% of the 2,4'-MDI isomer.
• Form Supplied: Solvent-free, colorless to yellowish liquid with low viscosity above 20°C, but crystallizes at lower temperatures.
• Processing: Must be kept sealed to prevent contact with water, which reacts with it to form polyureas and carbon dioxide. Water ingress can lead to dangerous pressure increases and formation of deposits.
• Storage: Recommended storage temperature is between 20°C and 30°C. Avoid moisture, heat, and foreign material. Crystallization may occur at temperatures below 15°C, and prolonged storage above 45°C can deteriorate quality.
• Safety Considerations: Proper handling is essential to prevent reactions with water and formation of hazardous byproducts. Samples should be tested if stored for more than six months.
