CRAYVALLAC® SL is a high-performance micronized amide wax rheology modifier specifically designed for the high-temperature manufacture of moisture-curing methoxysilane systems. Here are its typical characteristics and properties:
Nature: Polyamide
Appearance: Off-white micronized powder
Solid Content: 100%
Active Content: 100%
Specific Gravity: 0.99
Particle Size Distribution: DV. 1 min: 1.8 µm / DV. 9 max: 15.0 µm
Description:
CRAYVALLAC® SL particles form an interacting network of crystalline fibers upon activation, resulting in shear-thinning rheology. This characteristic provides low viscosity during application by extrusion and very high viscosity under low shear rates post-application, leading to ease of application followed by excellent sag and slump resistance.
Recommended Addition Level:
1-5% under heat and shear.
Standard Packaging:
Available in 15 kg bags. Other packaging options may be available upon request.
Handling & Storage:
Store in the original containers in a dry place at temperatures between 5°C (41°F) and 30°C (86°F). Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or frost. Use within 48 months from production under these conditions.
Processing Instructions:
Manufacture of methoxysilane-based sealants requires careful moisture level control. Pre-drying of pigments and extenders is recommended, or low moisture content ingredients may be used. Vacuum processing at elevated temperatures prevents moisture uptake and facilitates removal of unwanted water residues. Ensure additives are quickly dispersed and not in prolonged contact with the resin component to prevent skin formation.
