CRAYVALLAC® MT is a micronized amide-modified hydrogenated castor oil rheology modifier designed for both solvent-based and solvent-free systems. Here are its typical characteristics and properties:
Nature: Castor derivatives
Appearance: Off-white micronized powder
Solid Content: 100%
Active Content: 100%
Specific Gravity: 1.02
Particle Size Distribution: DV.2 min: 4 µm / DV.8 max: 20 µm
Description:
CRAYVALLAC® MT is well-suited to systems based on aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, and blends of aromatic hydrocarbons with alcohols. Compared to basic hydrogenated castor oil-based rheology modifiers, CRAYVALLAC® MT exhibits greater tolerance to stronger solvents. Upon activation, CRAYVALLAC® MT particles form an interacting network of fiber-like structures, leading to the final coating's shear-thinning rheology. This property ensures high viscosity under low shear rates (such as during sedimentation) and low viscosity under high shear rates (during application), providing excellent control of sedimentation combined with ease of application.
Recommended Addition Level:
0.2-1.5% under heat and shear.
Standard Packaging:
Available in 20 Kg bags. Other packaging options may be available upon request.
Handling & Storage:
Store in the original containers in a dry place at temperatures between 5°C (41°F) and 30°C (86°F). Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or frost. Use within 48 months from production under these conditions.
Processing Instructions:
CRAYVALLAC® MT is best incorporated during the pigment dispersion stage using a high-speed disperser. The dispersion process should be maintained for a period of 20 – 40 minutes at the recommended temperature range, depending on the solvent system used.
