ASCOTRUST® X4 is a rust-converting additive designed for waterborne coatings. Here's a breakdown of its features and usage:
Function: ASCOTRUST® X4 is a liquid additive that reacts with metal cations to form stable organic complexes on metal substrates. It chemically passivates the metal, providing effective corrosion protection.
Application: It is added directly to waterborne coatings applied on rusted or poorly prepared ferrous substrates. It blocks residual rust and prevents its migration through the fresh paint film. It maintains good anticorrosion performance despite adverse substrate conditions and doesn't compromise the coating's performance on non-rusted substrates.
Features:
Incorporation/Dosage: ASCOTRUST® X4 is preferably added at the last manufacturing step (post-addition). In 2K PU systems, it should be added into the resin part. In 2K Epoxy systems, it should be added to the hardener (amine part). Dosage ranges from 0.5 to 3% depending on the coating formulation, with higher dosages recommended for primers or one-coat systems applied on highly reactive rusted substrates.
Technical Data:
Packaging: Available in plastic pails of 30 kg net, metal drums of 200 kg net, or IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers) of 1000 kg net.
Storage: Ideal temperature conditions: 0 to 30°C. Shelf life is one year in its original closed drum under recommended storage conditions. Some crystals may form when stored below -5°C for several days, but the product will recover its initial properties after warming to ambient temperature.
