SYNOLAC® 60 WD 70 is a long oil alkyd designed for use in formulating interior and exterior decorative paints and varnishes. It is supplied in low aromatic white spirit, making it suitable for coatings that do not require adverse environmental labeling.

Formulation Guidelines:

• Requires metal driers to accelerate the autoxidation process. A combination of cobalt, zirconium, and calcium driers is recommended.
• Compatibility with various alkyds, drying oils, varnishes, chlorinated rubber, and nitrocellulose. Partial compatibility with stand oils and short oil alkyds.
• Can be pigmented with a wide range of pigments using high-speed dispersers and bead mills. Care must be taken with semi-transparent iron oxides to avoid gelation.
• Can be used with thixotropic alkyds like GELKYD® or SUPER GELKYD® to produce thixotropic decorative coatings.

Storage and Handling:

• Store indoors in the original, unopened, and undamaged container at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
• Shelf life is 9 months from the shipping date under proper storage conditions.

RESYDROL® VAY 6278w/45WA is an aqueous Acryl-Alkyd-Hybrid emulsion designed for use in decorative paints, wood stains, and industrial applications. It is an oxidatively drying, ammonia-neutralized hybrid emulsion that does not contain organic cosolvents or alkylphenolethoxylates.

• Form of Delivery: 45% in water
• Neutralization Agent: 0.1% ammonia
• Content of Fatty Acids: Approx. 15% special vegetable fatty acids (as triglycerides)
• Dynamic Viscosity: 70 - 500 mPa.s (at 10 1/s; 23 °C)

Special Properties and Uses:

• Environmentally friendly, solvent-free, and has a pleasant smell.
• Can be used as the sole binder for decorative paints, wood stains, and industrial applications.
• Exhibits better drying rates and less yellowing compared to similar products (e.g., Resydrol AY 586w or Resydrol AY 430w).

Processing Guidelines:

• Only pigments with very little water solubility should be used.
• Strongly basic pigments are not suitable as they may cause storage stability problems and gelling.
• Best suited grinding aggregates include pearl or sand mills.
• Binder-free pigment pastes for high gloss top coats can be produced without organic solvents.
• On tannic acid-rich woods like oak or mahogany, drying rates might be delayed and discoloration may occur.
• Optimal drying rates can be achieved without using driers due to its high acrylic modification.

Storage and Handling:

• Store at temperatures up to 25 °C for a shelf life of at least 365 days.
• Protect from freezing temperatures; if frozen, the product requires regeneration with extended heat treatment at 40 - 50 °C with continuous stirring.
• Recommended to store frost-free, with the lowest storage temperature at -3 °C.

SYNAQUA® 4804 is a short oil alkyd emulsion developed by Arkema Coating Resins for use in high-performance decorative paints. It is especially suitable for trim paints and can also be applied in wall paints, exterior primers for wood or metal, and corrosion-resistant primers.

Formulation Guidelines:

1. Driers:
   • Use driers developed specifically for water-based coatings, such as Additol® VXW 6206 at 1.5% on resin solids or cobalt alone at 0.1-0.15%. Co-free driers like BORCHI® OXY - Coat 1101 at 0.5% can also be used.
   • No antiskinning agent is required.
2. Rheology:
   • Control rheology and viscosity with associative thickeners such as HEUR thickeners (e.g., Coapur™ XS 22, Coapur™ 830 W) or hydrophobically modified polyether thickeners (e.g., Aquaflow® NHS 300, Aquaflow® NLS 205).
3. Compatibility:
   • Compatible with (styrene-)acrylic emulsions, but compatibility must be checked for each system.
4. Other Additives:
   • Defoamers like Byk®-022, Byk®-028, Byk®-093, Surfynol® MD20, Surfynol® DF58, FoamStar® ST 2438, Tego® Airex 902W can be used without affecting performance.
   • Use dispersing agents like Coadis™ BR 85 or Disperbyk®-190 for maximum performance. It is not recommended to use SYNAQUA® 4804 in the millbase.

Storage and Handling:

• Store indoors in the original, unopened, and undamaged container.
• Keep in a dry place at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C.
• Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
• Protected to prevent microbial deterioration under normal storage conditions.
• Shelf life: 6 months from the shipping date.
