SYNTHALAT A 065 is an acrylic resin designed for cross-linking with polyisocyanates. It is supplied in three different forms: A = 50% in xylene/butyl acetate (9:1), B = 50% in butyl acetate, and C = 50% in shellsol A.

Use: SYNTHALAT A 065 is primarily used in combination with aliphatic polyisocyanates for air- and stove-drying coatings for metals, wood, and plastics. These coatings are preferred when high coating qualities are needed but stoving is not possible due to the size or heat-sensitivity of the object being coated.

Film Properties: When combined with aliphatic polyisocyanates like "Desmodur N," SYNTHALAT A 065 produces non-yellowing films with excellent weathering resistance. These coatings dry rapidly and produce harder films compared to those based on A 045 and A 085. However, they may not achieve the same abrasion resistance as A 150.

Pigmentation: All neutral pigments and fillers are suitable for pigmentation with SYNTHALAT A 065. However, basic pigments and pigments containing soluble metallic compounds may affect curing and shorten the pot life of mixed batches.

Mixing Ratio with Polyisocyanates: The recommended mixing ratio with polyisocyanate is 100 parts by weight of SYNTHALAT A 065 to approximately 15 parts by weight of "Desmodur N 75%." Undercuring or overcuring has little influence on the film properties.

Solubility/Dilutability: SYNTHALAT A 065 is dilutable in various solvents like ethyl acetate, MEK, butyl acetate, toluene, etc. Anhydrous solvents and solvents containing no OH groups should be used.

Compatibility: SYNTHALAT A 065 exhibits high compatibility and can be combined with various other products, as listed in the compatibility table.

Shelf-life: When properly stored, SYNTHALAT A 065 has a shelf life of at least one year.

SYNTHALAT A 055 is an acrylic resin designed for cross-linking with polyisocyanates. It is supplied as a 60% solution in xylene/butyl acetate (3:1).

Characteristics:

• Hydroxyl value: 55-65
• Hydroxyl content: Approximately 1.7% (relative to non-volatile content)
• Flow time in seconds (50% in xylene): 200-300
• Gardner colour value (50% in xylene): Less than 2
• Non-volatile content: 60 +/- 1%
• Flash point: 28°C
• Density: 1.00 g/ml

Use: SYNTHALAT A 055 is primarily used in combination with aliphatic polyisocyanates for non-yellowing coatings for metals and plastics. It can also be used as a pigment paste resin and is suitable for applications requiring high flexibility, adhesion, and weathering resistance.

Film Properties: When combined with aliphatic polyisocyanates like "Desmodur N," SYNTHALAT A 055 produces non-yellowing coatings with excellent weathering resistance, gloss retention, high flexibility, and good adhesion even on problematic substrates.

Compatibility: SYNTHALAT A 055 exhibits very high compatibility and can be used as a combining resin for various other products, including A 045, A 065, A 090, A 141 HS, and A 150/151, based on an equivalent reaction of the reactive groups (NCO:OH = 1:1).

Mixing Ratio with Polyisocyanate: The recommended mixing ratio with polyisocyanate is 100 parts by weight of SYNTHALAT A 055 to approximately 15 parts by weight of "Desmodur N 75%."

SYNTHALAT A 045 is an acrylic resin designed for cross-linking with polyisocyanates. It is supplied in three variations:

• A: 60% in xylene/butyl acetate (9:1)
• B: 60% in butyl acetate
• C: 60% in ShellSol A

Characteristics:

• Hydroxyl value: A: 45-55, B: 40-50, C: 45-55
• Hydroxyl content: Approximately 1.4% (relative to non-volatile content)
• Flow time in seconds: A: 70-100, B: 100-150, C: 70-100 (50% in xylene)
• Gardner colour value: Less than 2 (50% in xylene)
• Non-volatile content: 60 +/- 1%
• Flash point: A: 26°C, B: 25°C, C: 48°C
• Density: 0.99 g/ml

Use: SYNTHALAT A 045 is primarily used in combination with aliphatic polyisocyanates for air and stove-drying coatings for metals and plastics. It is particularly suitable for instances where stoving is not feasible due to size or heat sensitivity. Examples include coatings for caravans, cladding panels, and plastic objects.

Film Properties:

• When combined with aliphatic polyisocyanates like "Desmodur N," it produces full-bodied, non-yellowing coatings with excellent weathering resistance and gloss retention.
• These films are highly flexible, exhibit good adhesion even on problematic substrates, and show good water resistance and resistance to corrosive chemicals.
• Compared to other products like A 190, A 150/151, A 085, A 065, and A 055, SYNTHALAT A 045 provides films with maximum flexibility and impact resistance.
