Waterborne White DTM Paint based on Texcryl M59, ASCONIUM® 142DA and ASCOTRAN® H10

This document outlines a guideline formulation for a waterborne white Direct-to-Metal (DTM) paint. The formulation process involves preparing a mill base under high shear for 10-15 minutes, then adding components in a specific order, and finally setting the mill base aside. Subsequent steps include adding additional components with continuous stirring.

Raw Materials:

• Deionized Water
• Texcryl D50 (Dispersing Agent, Texochem Industries)
• Ammonia (Neutralizer)
• Texcryl DF-02 (Defoamer, Texochem Industries)
• UnoWet 9459 N (Wetting Agent, Uno Chemie)
• Texcryl MT30 (Thickener, Texochem Industries)
• Titanium Dioxide (Pigment)
• Calcium Carbonate (Filler)
• Texcryl M59 (DTM Emulsion, Texochem Industries)
• Ascotran H10 (Flash Rust Inhibitor, Ascotec)
• Asconium 142DA (Corrosion Inhibitor, Ascotec)
• Texanol (Cosolvent, Eastman)
• Biocide

Process:

1. Prepare mill base under high shear for 10-15 minutes.
2. Add components in specified order and set aside mill base.
3. Add additional components with continuous stirring.

Salt Spray Performance Testing:

• Substrate: Cold Rolled Steel
• Dry Film Thickness: 75 microns
• Duration: 350-500 hours
