SYNTHALAT F 477 is an air-drying medium-oil alkyd resin with approximately 50% oil content, primarily drying fatty acids. It's used in fast-drying industrial paints, particularly for machine and vehicle coatings, offering good gloss retention. It's also suitable for radiator paints with low yellowing tendency.
This substance is soluble in various solvents such as petroleum spirit, turpentine oil, xylene, trichloroethylene, and others. It exhibits compatibility with a range of materials including linseed oil, alkyd resins, epoxy ester, and certain resins.
When used in synthetic resin enamels, SYNTHALAT F 477 provides fast initial and through-drying, high elasticity, high gloss, and excellent weathering resistance. It's compatible with melamine resins and can be formulated for hardening at 80°C.
For drying, cobalt-containing or cobalt-free dryer combinations are recommended. It's supplied in various forms, including mixtures with solvents like "Shellsol D 40," white spirit "K 21," and "K 30" with xylene.
Properties include non-volatile content, flow time, acid value, and color value, which vary depending on the solvent used for dilution.
