DESMODUR® LD

Desmodur® LD is a low-functionality isocyanate based on hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI). It's used to enhance the storage stability of pigmented moisture-curing one-component polyurethane coatings, providing good lightfastness and weather stability. It's supplied as a solvent-free low-viscosity liquid.

• NCO Content: Approximately 12.1%.
• Viscosity: Around 75 mPa·s at 23°C.
• Color Value (Hazen): Less than or equal to 50.
• Solubility/Thinnability: Compatible with certain solvents like esters (e.g., ethyl acetate, butyl acetate) but has limited solubility in aromatic hydrocarbons. Not soluble in white spirit or alcohols.
• Compatibility: Works well with aliphatic polyisocyanate prepolymers such as Desmodur® E 3265 and Desmodur® E 3370.
• Properties/Applications: Reacts with water, acting as a dewatering agent to ensure storage stability of coatings. Typically used in pigmented moisture-curing one-component polyurethane coatings.
• Storage: Should be stored in a sealed container at temperatures between 0-30°C to maintain stability. Moisture, heat, and foreign material should be avoided.
• Safety Considerations: Requires appropriate protective measures due to its reactive nature. Not suitable for DIY applications but rather for industrial or trade use.

Desmodur® LD is mainly used as a hardener in coating materials or adhesives and should be handled with care, adhering to proper safety protocols. It's not designated for medical grade, food contact, or cosmetic applications unless Covestro is contacted in advance and provides agreement.
