Harcryl® 1228 M UV is a specialized acrylic monomer designed for UV curable coatings. Here's a summary of its features and properties:
Composition: It is a free acid phosphate ester of 2-HEMA (hydroxyethylmethacrylate), predominantly composed of the mono-alkyl phosphate ester. This composition allows for easy incorporation into various polymer systems, with a higher hydrophilicity compared to Harcryl® 1228.
Inhibition: Inhibited with 100ppm of added MeHQ.
Functionality: The phosphate functional group promotes adhesion to surfaces, reducing the need for pretreatments. This enhances adhesion, saves time, and reduces coating layers. Improved corrosion resistance due to the phosphate functional group reduces the need for additional inhibitors. The acrylic backbone allows Harcryl® 1228 M UV to be easily incorporated into many coating systems, including UV and radiation curable coatings.
Benefits:
Usage: Should not be used as a straight additive. As a monomer, it should be fed separately or in the monomer pre-mix. It has a shelf life of 1 year from the manufacturing date.
Handling & Storage: Should be stored in stainless steel, lined, or plastic vessels. Listed as a DOT corrosive.
