Deuteron MM 823

Deuteron MM 823 is an organic matting agent that has been modified with PTFE (Polytetrafluorethylene). This compound combines the durable properties of organic duromeric PMU powder (Polymethyl urea) with the additional protective slip effect of PTFE. It's designed to provide abrasion-resistant low gloss finishes, making it suitable for various coating applications where durability and quality are paramount.

Applications for Deuteron MM 823 span across different coating systems, including waterborne, solvent-borne, and 100% systems. It can be used either as a standalone additive or in combination with other materials to enhance properties further. Some key benefits and properties of Deuteron MM 823 include:

Deuteron MM 823 has a density of approximately 1.48 g/cm³, with an oil absorption of around 288 g Palatinol N/100 g (DIN ISO 787/5). Its particle size distribution includes a dv50 (median particle size) of approximately 6.3 µm and a dv90 (90th percentile particle size) of around 17.3 µm. It appears as a fine white powder.

In terms of processing, Deuteron MM matting agents can be easily incorporated into systems using a high-speed stirrer, without the need for specific wetting agents or dispersing aids. They are shear stable in high shear processes but should not be ground in a bead mill. In water-based systems with low emulsifier and/or low coalescent levels, the additional use of a suitable dispersing additive may be necessary to achieve proper dispersion.

Deuteron MM 823 has a shelf life of 24 months under room temperature and dry conditions, with storage temperature not exceeding 35°C. It is not classified as a dangerous product according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 and therefore does not require labeling for safety.
