Deuteron LE 151 is an antistatic agent primarily composed of tetraalkylammoniumethylsulfate dissolved in ethylene glycol (MEG). It is a yellowish liquid with a viscosity of approximately 300 mPa·s and a density of around 0.99 g/cm³. Its pH value, at a 1% concentration in distilled water, is approximately 8, with an acid value of less than 7 and a hydroxyl value of approximately 270. It doesn't have a flashpoint.
This product is highly polar, which significantly reduces the electrical resistance of polyurethane foams, even in small quantities. Its main application is as an antistatic agent for polyurethane compounds based on polyester and polyether, commonly used in the shoe industry for producing soles with antistatic properties. Deuteron LE 151 is particularly suitable for systems already containing MEG as a cross-linking component.
Dosage recommendations vary depending on the formulation, foam density, and required electrical resistance of the final product. Typically, an addition of 2.5% calculated on the total composition is sufficient to reduce electrical resistance in most applications. However, the hydroxyl value of Deuteron LE 151 must be considered to ensure optimal cross-linking. Further reduction in resistance can be achieved with higher dosages, but this may alter the physical properties of the final product, so dosage should be determined through trials.
Deuteron LE 151 can be easily added to the compound at room temperature or below, without the need for warming up. It can be stored in its original tightly closed containers for at least 24 months at room temperature. However, it solidifies below 5°C and liquefies again when warmed up.
