DESMODUR® IL 1351 BA

Desmodur® IL 1351 BA is an aromatic polyisocyanate based on toluene diisocyanate (TDI), primarily used as the hardener component for fast-drying two-component polyurethane coatings. It is supplied in a solution with approximately 51% content in butyl acetate.

This product is compatible with various Desmophen® and Desmodur® products, such as Desmophen® 1300, 1100, Desmodur® L, and N. When combined with Desmophen® 1300, it yields very fast-drying systems, commonly used in applications where short drying times and early sandability are required, such as in the furniture industry.

Desmodur® IL 1351 BA exhibits good thinnability with esters and aromatic hydrocarbons, such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, toluene, and xylene. However, solutions formed must be tested for their storage stability, and only PU grade solvents should be used (< 0.05% water) to prevent potential issues.

Like other polyisocyanates, Desmodur® IL 1351 BA requires careful handling and appropriate protective measures, especially when used in coating materials or adhesives. It is intended for industrial or trade applications and is not recommended for DIY use.

Storage recommendations include keeping the product in its original sealed container at temperatures between 0 to 30 °C, protected from moisture, heat, and foreign material. Storage at higher temperatures may lead to increased viscosity.
