Thixol™ 53 L is a liquid acrylic self-associative thickener designed to provide a strong pseudoplastic rheological profile to water-based systems while preventing settling and sagging without compromising leveling properties. Here are its characteristics and properties:
Nature: Aqueous dispersion of an acrylic copolymer
Appearance: Low viscous white milky liquid
Solid Content (%): 30
Active Content (%): 30
pH: 3
Specific gravity: 1.06
Solvent: Water
Description:
Thixol™ 53 L functions as a pure self-associative acrylic thickener, thickening with a pH preferably adjusted between 8 and 9. It transitions from its natural acid delivery form to a neutralized and water-soluble form. The thickening efficiency is achieved through hydrophobic interactions, influencing viscosity at very low shear rates to prevent settling and sagging. Its relatively slow viscosity recovery following application provides a real thixotropic effect, improving the compromise between leveling and sag resistance. Thixol™ 53 L can be used alone in very thick systems or combined with associative thickeners to modify high shear viscosity and reduce spattering, improving leveling and film build, especially in flat and semi-gloss paints. It can be incorporated at any step of paint manufacture, especially at the final step.
