Additol® VXW 4926 is an antifoaming additive designed for water-dilutable paints, specifically formulated without silicone addition. It facilitates rapid defoaming or air release, allowing for high film thickness of stoving paints without cissing (i.e., the formation of small craters or pits on the surface of the paint film during drying or curing). It is also suitable for use in combinations of dispersions with water-dilutable synthetic resins.
Key characteristics and properties include:
Suggested uses include applications in radiation curing systems and as a surface-active additive for water-dilutable paints, particularly for preventing cissing during spray application. The recommended dosage range is between 2% to 15% for 100% binder solids, with the optimum quantity determined through individual tests.
In terms of processing, Additol VXW 4926 should be incorporated carefully into formulations, preferably together with pigments and extenders. It should be noted that the product is not dilutable with water.
For storage, it is recommended to store Additol VXW 4926 at temperatures up to 25°C in its original containers, with a storage stability of at least 730 days. Turbidity may appear at temperatures below 15°C, but this can be resolved by storing the product at temperatures above 15°C for 24 hours, resulting in a clear solution without affecting its properties.
