SETALUX® D A 160 X is a polyisocyanate cross-linking acrylic resin primarily used in the formulation of two-component polyurethane coatings. It is often combined with aliphatic polyisocyanates to create coatings with good lightfastness and resistance to chalking. The resin is supplied in approximately 60% xylene solution.
Here are some key details from the technical datasheet:
- Hydroxyl content: Approximately 2.7% on solid resin
- Non-volatile content: 60 ± 1%
- Viscosity (at 23°C): 1800 ± 500 mPa·s
- Acid value (supply form): 4 ± 2 mg KOH/g
- Hydroxyl content (supply form): 1.3 - 1.9%
- Color (Hazen): ≤ 50 APHA
- Water content: ≤ 0.1%
- Equivalent weight (supply form): Approximately 1065 g/eq
- Density (at 20°C): Approximately 0.98 g/cm3
- Flash point: Approximately 25°C
Applications of SETALUX D A 160 X include air- and force-drying top coats, anti-corrosion coatings, and top coats for steel in civil and hydraulic engineering applications. The coatings exhibit good weather stability, resistance to water, washing solutions, and chemicals. They remain stable up to approximately 150°C, although yellowing may occur at this temperature.
SETALUX D A 160 X can be thinned using various solvents such as ketones, esters, ether esters, toluene, xylene, and solvent naphtha 100. Compatibility testing is recommended when mixing with other substances, including Desmodur N 75, N 3390, Z 4470, and L, SETATHANE D 1150, nitrocellulose chips, and certain vinyl copolymers.
It should be stored in originally sealed containers at temperatures not exceeding 30°C, and the standard shelf life is 730 days from the date of manufacturing. Shelf life may be extended upon re-testing by QC if the product is still in allnex possession.
